In an 1879 marriage record from Skępe, Poland, it is said that the bride was born "въ Реньеку Прихода товожъ въ Короле[в]ствѣ Прускомъ." I understand that this refers to a parish in the Kingdom of Prussia, but the meaning of the word товожъ is unclear to me. Any help appreciated!

Incorrect spelling of the 19 C official document Russian (and Chuch Slavonic) "того жъ" = current Russian "того же". "Того" is pronounced [tovo], hence "товожъ".
Quite a common mistake.

Asker: So, could this be translated as "born in Renniek in the parish of the same name in the Kingdom of Prussia"? I still haven't actually found the village/parish, but it seems like this might be what was meant. There were usually several small villages within a parish, and the parish was often named after the larger of the villages, where the parish church was located.

Asker: Finally tracked down the village. It is Ryńsk, Poland (formerly Rheinsberg in West Prussia), which was indeed in the parish of the same name.
