Education system in CIS countries is different from Western Ed. system. This is about practicals after the lecture to soak up the knowledge gained during lectures and theoretical courses.

@Jonathan: The Asker has abandoned the question, in spite of the many good answers here. However, whenever I hear something like practical lesson, I tend to think of its opposite: the impractical lesson. Admittedly, our university experiences are different, and there apparently are a slew of British and American terms that have no equivalents across the Pond. It is said that we are two peoples divided by the same language.
[Practical lessons connotes to me what experience teaches us for the future. Perhaps others sense a different nuance.] In any case, let us not cry into our beers or ales, in your case.

If I've understood you correctly, "практические занятия" refers to lessons in which a student is given a chance to put into practice the knowledge he/she has gained from studying theory. If that is the case then practical lessons fits fine here. "Practical lessons" is a term that is used at all levels of schooling in Britain, including at universities.
As you mention the word "praticals" is another possible translation but I would add that this weird can sound strange depending on the subject you're talking about. A practical sounds perfectly fine when talking about a subject where putting your knowledge into practice involves doing something with your hands but it sounds strange otherwise. For example, in the sciences it definitely makes sense to call theory lessons lectures and lessons in which students run experiments practicals. In a subject like history however, practical lessons fits much better. When I worked in the history department at my university running seminars and workshops with students, the workshops, where students could test their understanding of historical theory by interacting with primary historical sources, were exclusively referred to as practical lessons.

практические занятия could be in general, which covers the following: seminars, practical lab sessions, workshops, practicums, internships, work placements, individual study, study visits etc.
And it might be one of them except for internship, practicum, work placement, visits,

If in general, it would be: Practical classes (Practicals) vs Lectures
if not in general: Workshops , seminars, lab sessions, individual study vs Lectures

Они развивают научное мышление и речь, позволяют проверить знания студентов и выступают как средства оперативной обрат­ной связи.

План ПЗ отвечает общим идеям и направленности лек­ционного курса и соотнесен с ним в последовательности тем. Он является общим для всех преподавателей и обсуж­дается на заседании кафедры.

Practical lessons увы здесь не подходит, Practical lessons -это дословный перевод и имеет общее значение, Practical lessons преподается и в средней школе, а здесь диплом ВУЗа, а у нас в ВУЗах, бывают теоретические курсы (напр. лекции), после лекции, делит студентов на мален. группы, и проведут практические занятия (напр. семинары, лабораторные работы). Если перевести как practical lessons это будет грубой ошибкой.
IMHO, practical lessons wouldn't be a proper term here, if we translate so, then we would commit a blunder (in our translation)

So, as I see it, here is about lectures and practicals (lecture as a theory -seminars, lab training etc. as practicals or practical training or training sessions). Practical training could be "internship" or "practicum" in other contexts, but here it is about university "lectures" and "practicals or training sessions"
workshop - training class or seminar in which the participants work individually and/or in groups to solve actual work related to tasks to gain hands-on experience
