a director's approach to a cinematic work Explanation: Echoing e.g. https://www.amazon.com/Scriptwork-Directors-Approach-Play-De... 'A director's take on...' could also work, but that would somewhat connote the analysis of the end product, rather than the directing style and methods. 'Cinematic work' sounds just as cumbersome as "экранное произведение", but serves as an equally overarching term. Can be seen in use e.g. here: https://www.filmsite.org/filmterms17.html |

Director's cut Explanation: A director's cut, as opposed to the product created for general distribution (released in movie theaters), is a version of a film that’s edited by the director and represents his/her vision--usually for additional home media release. It sometimes contains an alternate ending, and often includes scenes cut from the version created for theatrical release. This term can also be used in regard to television episodes, music videos, commercials, and video games. Basically, it’s what the director would have made if he/she didn’t have producers, movie studios, and the industry in general breathing down his/her neck. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 13 hrs (2019-10-29 09:14:21 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Directors' Cuts The Directors’ Cuts series focuses on the work of many of the most significant contemporary international filmmakers. In considering the production and reception of the most important works of directors – from Clint Eastwood and the Coen Brothers to Agnès Varda and Béla Tarr, and all points between – this series sheds light upon the creative dynamics of world cinema. https://cup.columbia.edu/series/directors-cuts -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 14 hrs (2019-10-29 09:31:59 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- If something like "Cinema: The Director's Cut" doesn't work for you then the term you're looking for is simply "director's vision," but "Directors' Visions for On-Screen Works" doesn't sound very good--you'd need to rephrase the title, something like "Cinematography: The Director's Vision," or "The Director's Vision On-Screen".
