Art/Literary - Music / Article on famous conductor
Romanian term or phrase: în general "la rece"
This is from an article on a famous composer:

The context is talking about the emotional intensity of being in a concert hall as he was at work conduction, and (I think) how being in the music was like being in a spiritual experience. THe context reads:

"intensitatea sentimentului creat acolo în sală, în comuniunea spirituală a artiștilor și publicului, **foarte anevoie se poate regăsi pe discurile făcute în general “la rece”,** cu procuparea de exactitate materială, dar fără existența încărcăturii emoționale acumulate în timpul unui concert ...."

I have begun the sentence:

"... **This can be picked out if you listen meticulously to discs that have been made , " but I am unsure where to go from here, and what "la rece" is referring to.

Explanation:
3. Lacking emotion; objective

I would reformulate a little to preserve the meaning:

the intensity of the feeling.... "can be hardly found on the discs usually made "coldly", with concern on the material accuracy, but totally lacking the emotional charge....

Please do not confuse a combination of a beautiful recording, an excellent ochestra (all of these are completely true) and a coldly precise execution with ...

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you for your help, but this is exactly the problem, "discs usually made coldly" does not actually mean anything in English.

generally studio (recording)

Explanation:
No passion when recording in a studio, just plainly cold, like in a tomb...

“In the concert hall the concentration of the audience brings about a mutual influence between the performer and his listeners. In the studio nobody has to be conquered -- but there is nobody to disturb you. The player sits as though in a tomb.”
