De fapt, PFL este obtinut din rumegus/ tocatura de lemn , pregatit in anumite conditii unite intre ele printr-un adeziv special . De acceea as prefera termenul de mai sus.
In functie de esenta lemnului (esenta tare-stejar- sau esenta moale- fag, brad) din care se prepara apare hardwood sau soft wood.
