Moda aplicării acestor accesorii atât pe veșmintele bărbătești cât și pe cele femeiești are influență spaniolă, caracterizată în epocă prin împodobirea excesivă cu diferite aplice, perle, pietre prețioase sau alte bijuterii. Aplicele puteau fi emailate sau împodobite cu pietre scumpe și perle, dând o strălucire aparte costumelor. Aplicele boglar apar frecvent în inventarele de bijuterii aparținând doamnelor nobile din Ungaria. Ele aveau forma unor flori cu petale aurite și/sau acoperite cu email opac alb, negru, albastru, verde și, de asemenea, cu pietre sau perle fine prinse în filigrane.

agree  Ioana Costache: În arheologie, în inventarele funerare, boglar înseamnă fibulă sau agrafă (pentru haine), dar aici cred că e mai degrabă un ornament aplicat decât un element de prindere
