Portuguese term or phrase: pilão
From my research, this word has several meanings, but none seems to make sense in context. Is there an expression I'm not aware of, or might it be a figurative meaning, in which case I'm wondering what is the most common and well understood of the many dictionary definitions I found? "Pestle" seems to be what comes up most frequently when I do an image search. Thank you!

This is a PILÃO ....A Piece, usually made of wood, with a rounded end, used to pillar, punch, crush, or grind (coffee, cassava, corn, peanuts, etc.).

here in Brazil they have different sizes so I think the boy was seated on one of those

They are like grinders or maybe

Eu apenas tiraria o OR e adicionaria (AND) na minha resposta : Mortar and Prestle.

A comparação do 'colega' é infeliz pois Pilão é o nome dado ao CONJUNTO (mortar and prestle).

neutral  Mark Robertson: A large wooden mortar for pounding or peeling rice, corn, etc. Michaelis
