I'm translating a little coorporate document warning workers about spam, phishing, etc. The title of one of the sections is CAIU NA REDE E PHISHING. What does "caiu na rede" mean in this context?

Hi,
It refers to the illegal distribution of material on the Internet, such photos, false information etc...all the junk that 'falls' or has been distributed onto the Internet without being censored or priorly approved. For want of better words...what has 'happened' on the web...'occurred' on the web.

Here's a very good link about a 12 year boy who died and then had his photos distributed over the Internet without prior consent from his parents... "Caiu na rede, é crime"...it says.

I don't know anymore, after Lumen's explanation :) In Portugal we say "O que vier à rede é peixe", meaning everything you catch is worth it even if it is not fish...
