forage attractiveness Explanation: . The foraging activity of red deer was observed in all experimental treatments, but it was significantly lower in the areas with low sward yield and low quality of mid-forest meadows. Langvatn and Hanley (1993) suggest that protein content in the herbage is a better indicator of forage attractiveness for red deer than productivity. In our study, the highest quality of herbage (as indicated by a high CP) was observed within areas restored using the full tillage method, and correlated with the highest sward yield. https://mafiadoc.com/the-multiple-roles-of-grassland-in-the-... Figures 3b and 3c display two additional covariates influencing grazing intensity: (1) forage attractiveness based on a classification of vegetation types into two groups (Figure 3b) and (2) the interaction between terrain slope and distance, i.e. the fact that cows may graze steeper slopes to a stronger extent if they are close to the shed (Figure 3c). https://iris.unito.it/retrieve/handle/2318/1657957/384046/FA... |

attractiveness as a food source Explanation: attractiveness as a food source to local wildlife -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 6 hrs (2020-06-09 22:15:35 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- An annual designed for planting in spring, Conceal is a blend of tall-growing seed varieties, each of which grows to a different height, producing a thick wall of foliage up to eight feet tall! Conceal is also attractive to deer as a food source. Even so, Conceal isn’t intended to replace your food plot plantings. Rather, its attractiveness as a food source just encourages deer to use it more often. - https://whitetailinstitute.blogspot.com/2019/04/new-imperial... -- Other names for the tree include dwarf maple (for its short size) or moose maple (for its attractiveness as a food source for moose in other provinces). - https://macphailwoods.org/nature-guides/trees/mountain-maple... -- Red deer in woodlands will browse from trees wherever it is favourable to do so (Mitchell et al. 1977). Tree species differ greatly as regards their attractiveness as a food source for red deer - http://www.coford.ie/media/coford/content/publications/proje... - page 16 -- The disadvantages of this type of bark include low fire resistance, ease with which people carve their initials in it and attractiveness as a food source for elk, numerous insects and fungi - https://mandalicdesign.wordpress.com/plant-species/ |
