Reference: Suppression / dissolution Reference information: SUPPRESSION New Advent Catholic Encyclopedia: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/14096a.htm The Jesuit Order Website - order history: 1773, 07/21 - Pope Clement XIV issued “Dominus ac Redemptor”, an Apostolic Brief, suppressing the Society of Jesus. 1773, 08/13 - Pope Clement XIV published the Brief "Gravissimis ex causis" which established a special congregation of five cardinals to superintend the Suppression of the Society of Jesus and the appropriation of its houses and goods. 1773, 08/16 - The suppression of the Society of Jesus came with the publication of Clement XIV’s Brief “Dominus ac Redemptor.” Father General Lorenzo Ricci was led away as a prisoner to the English College. 1773, 08/17 - Frederik II of Prussia and Catherine of Russia forbade the publication of the Brief of Suppression in their dominions. 1773, 10/06 - In London, Dr. James Talbot, the Apostolic Vicar, promulgated the Letter of Suppression of the Society, and sent copies to Maryland and Pennsylvania. 1773, 11/29 - The Jesuits of White Russia requested the Empress Catherine to allow the Letter of Suppression to be published, as it had been all over Europe. "She bade them lay aside their scruples, promising to obtain the Papal sanction for their remaining in status quo." 1774, 04/24 - Christopher de Beaumont, Archbishop of Paris, wrote to Pope Clement XIV, regretting the Brief of Suppression. "So also the Society of Jesus, suppressed by a brief in 1773, was restored by a bull in 1818." http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/03052b.htm "The suppression of the Jesuit order by Pope Clement XIV in the year 1773 is a key episode in the complex drama that subordinated..." http://muse.jhu.edu/login?uri=/journals/catholic_historical_... "W 1773 r. papież Klemens XIV, pod naciskiem wrogich Kościołowi i Towarzystwu dworów burbońskich, rozwiązał zakon. Dekret kasacyjny nie został jednak ogłoszony na ziemiach wcielonych do Rosji w pierwszym rozbiorze Polski, tam też kontynuował zakon swą działalność do chwili przywrócenia go w 1814 r." http://www.jezuici.pl/wb//pages/historia.php http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Catholic_Encyclopedia_(1913)/T... http://tinyurl.com/yzbrp3v DISSOLUTION "The series of political struggles between various monarchs, particularly France and Portugal, began with disputes over territory in 1750 and culminated in suspension of diplomatic relations and dissolution of the Society by the Pope over most of Europe, and even some executions. The Portuguese Empire, France, the Two Sicilies, Parma and the Spanish Empire were involved to one degree or another." http://wapedia.mobi/en/Suppression_of_the_Society_of_Jesus http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-1437360_IT... http://tinyurl.com/yf3qcgb http://tinyurl.com/yfn4lg4 "http://famvin.org/gsdl/collect/vincenti/index/assoc/HASH1dcd... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 14 hrs (2009-11-10 11:53:08 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Tutaj link do angielskiej strony internetowej zakonu Jezuitów, z wkleiłem fragment historii (ze strony głównej zakładka "Site map", a dalej "History"): http://www.sjweb.info/ -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 14 hrs (2009-11-10 12:03:18 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Krzysztof Czekirda, "Słownik terminów i zwrotów religijnych, angielsko-polski": "dissolution of (religious) orders - rozwiązanie zakonów; dissolution of the monasteries - rozwiązanie klasztorów, kasacja zakonów" -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 14 hrs (2009-11-10 12:16:05 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Po przejrzeniu tych źródeł mam wrażenie (chociaż nie pewność), że "suppression" (kasata) jest częściej stosowane w nazwach "własnych" konkretnych wydarzeń (np. kasata zakonu jezuitów czy templariuszy). Dissolution (kasacja) to mniej nazwa "własna" konkretnego wydarzenia a bardziej określenie tego rodzaju posunięcia władz duchownych. Być może taka jest różnica między polskimi słowami "kasata" i "kasacja", jeśli jest jakakolwiek różnica. |
