spot varnish Explanation: spot ink Spot UV Varnish is applied to chosen spots (areas) of a printed piece. This has the affect of highlighting and drawing attention to that part of the design, but it also provides the additional visual stimulus of having varied textures on a single printed surface. http://krankn.com.au/pricelistbcspecialityspotuv.php To reduce the cost even further, you can test reducing the colors to your cards. Instead of a whole full shade business card, you can try more spot ink types of printing. This means that only specific color inks are going to be used in the stamping process. You have black in for the text and a few colors for your logo and that is certainly it. Using spot colors, you'll have cheaper costs since you did not go for the four color CMYK stamping process. http://rideoregonride.com/members/lorenzohinto51/trips/view/... |

Reference: "spot coating" = also known as "selective coating" Reference information: "A business card is an ideal way to reference your contact information and leave a great, lasting impression with customers, partners, and prospects. If you prefer to highlight your logo, name, text or anything in the card, use UV coated business cards. Its vibrant and exceptional qualities would impress your clients. The gloss of this card adds a distinguishing flare that stands out and brings it to the next level of professionalism. On top of the aesthetics, UV coating also helps protect your business cards from dust and dirt. On the other hand, if you want to highlight parts of your card, you might want to consider spot varnish (or spot coating). Extra glossy coating will be used on specific areas that you want to stand out. This process works best for minimally designed and professional-looking cards." "A UV spot is a selective coating that adds an over-brightness effect on the chosen zones of the card. We can use it on several locations (logo, name, phone number, etc), which results in a very original look. The round corners result in a different and personalized look for your card, which takes on a new format and stands apart of the crowd. The half-card measures 1" x 3.5". Given its small size, it has a hip and youthful look and is noteworthy for its originality. It is usually appreciated by designers or artists" Reference: http://www.youthedesigner.com/2011/06/30/37-sophisticated-an... Reference: http://www.memorialbookmarker.com/business_cards.php?lan=en |
