"Próbowano zastąpić nią także oleje bitumiczne, zwane fotogenem, lub hydrokaburem uzyskiwane w wyniku prażenia węgla brunatnego i łupków bitumicznych, które po zmieszaniu z terpentyną i alkoholem nazywano kamfiną. "

I'm not sure whether "fotogen" and "hydrokabur" are the same thing or not. "Hydrocarbure" seems to be French for "hydrocarbon", but that may be a false friend.
