bryggen broo-gun Explanation: According to the source below, but I'd say we need confirmation from someone who knows Norwegian: We drove to the wharf area, directly across the harbour from the area known as Bryggen (pronounced BREW-gun). For 400 years, from the 1300's to the 1700's, Bergen was a major port in the Hanseatic League, and the Bryggen area was a community of 2000 Germans surrounded by 8000 Norwegians. http://www.epinions.com/content_289145196164 |
