Norwegian to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general) / Extract from hospital record following op for torn ligament in knee joint
Norwegian term or phrase: svikter
Hei,

Following on with the patient following surgery to repair a lateral meniscus tear, the report mentions the patient continues to have problems. This report reads as follows:

"Peker også ut et sted laterodorsalt. I tillegg instabilitetsfølelse særlig i nedoverbakke. Føler da at låret svikter framover som ved en ACL skade".

The best I can come up with so far is: "Feels that the thigh fails going forward like an ACL injury". However, I'm not certain I have grasped the meaning. Do bear in mind the injury is at the back of the knee joint, this might help. (Perhaps this is what 'nedoverbakke' refers to? And I'm not certain I have grasped the meaning of 'laterodorsalt', either.) If anyone can shed any more light on what's going on here, I'd be grateful!

Takk!

Possibly ‘buckle’, but this usually refers to the knee.
