Hmm, tricky one. It means the lungs outline normally, i.e. there is nothing pushing them off the chest wall, such as pleural fluid, pneumothorax or other pleural/chest wall abnormalities. I have never heard it phrased just this way in English. In the hospitals I have worked, it would be variations of " The lungs are clear with no evidence of pleural effusion,.. etc". Obviously, you can't put words in the original doctors mouth, but maybe something like "The lungs are clear and outline normally" would work. It would be a fairly standard phrase to express that there are no deformity to the contour of the organ (albeit not the most used phrase when reporting chest x-rays) |
