Norwegian term or phrase: svarte halvparten
In the following sentence - I am having a hard time coming up with an English translation - obviously the black half here doesn't work - thanks for your input!

Trass i dette svarte halvparten av velgerne i en meningsmåling fra MMI i september 1994 at det ville være toll på eksport av industrivarer hvis Norge sa nei til EU.

English translation:half of the respondents answered
Explanation:
In spite of this, half of the respondents in a survey from MMI in September 1994, answered that.....

Literally, 'half of the respondents', but maybe 'fifty percent' sounds better?

I notice they use 'velgerne', but I guess they refer to the respondents? If you want to stick to the source, use 'voters' instead.
