Norwegian to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Accounting
Norwegian term or phrase: ytelseordning
This is a heading for a paragraph explaining the accounting treatment of a company's pension costs. A subsequent paragraph (with the heading Innskuddsordning) explains that the company is making a transition from a defined benefit plan (ytelsebasert pensjonsordning) to a defined contribution plan (innskuddspensjonsordning). But the "ytelseordning" paragraph does not describe the type of plan being accounted for.

defined benefit scheme
Explanation:
Hi, Alice. See the link below at the third item listed for a large Excel file titled "Tabeller for forsikringstidende". The pairing is found in the respective texts for the Excel workbook sheets labelled "Hovedtrekk - norsk" and "Hovedtrekk - engelsk" in the sentences:

"Omdanningsregler for overgang fra ytelses-baserte ordninger til innskuddsbaserte ordninger er heller ikke på plass." and

"Conversion rules for a transition from a defined benefit scheme to a defined contribution are not fully in place either."

Other examples of "defined benefit scheme" are at the second link.

Alice, I'm at a loss (no pun intended) after reading your second note. See page 11 at http://develop.fafo.no/files/news/582/Pensjonsinfo_207.pdf for this, in reference to survey of firms contemplating converting from defined benefit to defined contribution plans:
"Spørsmålet er stilt de bedriftene med ytelseordning som oppgir å ha planer om omdanning i løpet av de neste 12 månedene."

If these folks holding a forum on the subject use "ytelseordning" for what is clearly in their context "defined benefit scheme", then I don't know what to say about your source, except that I agree with Leif. ;-)

Charlie, you're right. This heading is also contrasted with Innskudsordning. Thanks.
