that, Per. I'm going to bring this up. I very much doubt that they really mean what you and I and the rest of the world normally understand by "sluttattest". Thanks for confirming that I had reason to be wary here.

I'm afraid you cannot say "Sluttattester/sluttmeldinger" as if these were slight variations over the same subject. Sluttmelding is the formal notice to an internal or external payroll service that a certain employee's contract has been terminated, while sluttattest is the confirmation issued to the terminated employee to document position held and period worked. The employer may choose to embellish this with performance appraisals and good wishes, in which case it would be closer to a testimonial.

P45 may be appropriate in countries where this is used. The Norwegian sluttattest is the minimum documentation ex-employees have a right to, and details positions hels and period worked. It doesn't give information on the circumstances that caused the end of the employment, nor should it. Even forcibly terminated (for cause) employees have a right to a sluttattest.

the track here, and I see that further clarification is needed. X is the employer/company, and Y is the accounting system management company (like Mamut, Visma, etc). So this "attest" is confirmation from the employer to the payroll system management company that an employment relationship has been terminated.
