Norwegian term or phrase: sluttattest
Payroll management system, specification of regular tasks. This item is called: Sluttattester/sluttmeldinger, and is commented on as follows: "Det er Xs ansvar å utarbeide sluttattest. X sender sluttmelding til Y. Y registrerer sluttdato i lønnssystemet"

So it's some kind of certificate or document confirming that an employee has left the company and is to be removed from the payroll system.

P45/pink slip

Explanation:
The document companies are obliged by law to provide at the end of emplyment is the P45 form. It contains year-to-date salary and taxes paid and is a definitive statement that the person has been removed from the payroll. The former employee will need to submit this doc to their new employer.

Example sentence(s):
  • My new employer requires a P45. It's in the post.

disagree  Harald Roald: a "sluttattest" is more like a written comfirmation that you have been employed, not to hand off to next employer, but (used to) be submitted as a copy with CV while applying for jobs
