Dz. v. registresanas datum

The registration of the address (now declaration) stems from the Soviet times when the state had to know where everybody lived to control them. It is still an important part of the means by which the authorities control the masses. It is also a part of your ID - name, ID number and declared address. I cannot for the life of me imagine why anybody would need to know when the birth date was registered. Whereas the date when the address is registered can be used for immigration status, GP and school catchment areas and all sorts of things.

I stand corrected and agree with Burrell. Residential address (dzīves vieta) sounds more plausible.

That is a strange concept, Andy, namely "date of birthplace registration", but that's what it seems to be saying. The "personas kods" indicates that the woman born in 1974 had a dz.v. reg. datums of 1992 and the other person born in 1942 had a dz.v. reg. datums of 1981. Does this make it any clearer or bring us closer to understanding what it means? Thanks, David.
