agree  Olga Cartlidge: "Doctrinam" stands for "Knowledge" here (should be "scientiam"). It can t possibly be used in the Ablative as "probare " would have no object, it would just say "demonstrated".("Demonstrated a commendable knowledge of genetics in passing statutory exams".

  -> thank you, also possible

agree  Joseph Brazauskas: The likely meaning. But shouldn't 'doctrinam' be ablative?

  -> thank you, it seems you are right, "doctrina"

agree  Nicholas Ferreira: a05, I didn't know you do Latin too; that's great! I actually like Olga's version the best. // Doctrina is commonly rendered "knowledge."

  -> thank you, I do it free of charge. I would avoid "knowledge" which is not in the original.
