identify Explanation: This is my first time to see this word used in this context. I am guessing that this is a way to program the equipment (EDS?). You first perform spot analysis and area analysis to *identify* places, then the equipment automaticaly collects spectra at these places. Does this make sense? -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 16 hrs (2008-04-21 13:23:06 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Actually, I see 予約 practically everyday used in a very similar sense. Where? It's on my rice cooker! When you set your rice cooker in the evening so it cooks for the breakfast next morning, you enter the time you want the rice cooked, and hit ON. This procedure is called as 予約. The English "word" for this would be "programme" but I would use "identify" if I am to translate the whole sentense. Hence my suggestion. I would still think the procedure described is as I have in my explanation: The operator performs spot and area analyses to find out where he/she wants to do an EDS analyses as he/she program these locations of interest, and the equipment automatically move the motorized stage to collect spectra in the reverse order. |
