Japanese term or phrase:
This is one sentence in an essay written by a late journalist. I need your help how to translate "霧に包まれ、青く広がっていた" I made a couple of sentences:
"The ground spread in mist, showing its green grass dimly", "The ground was shrouded in mist, and the spreading green grass looked dimly".. Does any one have good suggestion? Thank you!

Amidst a thick mist, the field subtly showed its grass-covered surface

Explanation:
Just an idea.

また、「グラウンド」が校庭や球場などと違い、いわゆる「範囲」のない「草の生えた地面」なら...the field showed its lush surface spreading far and wide とか言えると思います。 Amidst a thick mist, I could see ... また、長くなりますが、 "The field was covered in a thick mist. Yet, it showed its lush surface spreading far and wide."
