特開平 Japanese published unexamined application Explanation: Eijiro gives "Japanese published unexamined application" for 特開平, in your example followed by the year and number of the application -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 23 mins (2004-05-08 20:39:02 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- These are often referred to as ¥"kokai¥", abbreviated from the full version of the name, 特許公開公報. The 平 at the end is short for 平成, Heisei, indicating the reign of the current emperor (1989- ) |

Japanses Patent Laid-Open Publication No. Hxx-xxx Explanation: "特開平" is followed by a number which is given to a Japanese patent laid-open publication which has been once published, that is 公開特許公報. "平" means "平成", Japanese Imperial era name. You can use the expression of "JP-A-H(input numbers)", too. I use both "Japanses Patent Laid-Open Publication No. Hxx-xxx" and "JP-A-Hxx-xxx" depending on the situation. |
