disruptive Explanation: My understanding is that it refers to something that cannot fit into the plans made. Volcanic events are of course not planned for, so any volcanic event occurring would be disruptive of the plans. |

not possible to cope with through design Explanation: There is probably a better way to phrase this, but I think this is used to describe things (usually volcanic phenomena/events) that you can't design something (usually a nuclear power plant) to be able to deal with.
