English translation:Consequently, even when engaging in only a few ways to prevent desertification that may be limited..
Explanation:
したがって、砂漠化防止に取り組む際は限られた分野だけを対象としても、他の要因に対する配慮がなされなければ、抜本的な解決には結びつかない。

Here's my stab at it:

"Consequently, even when engaging in only a few ways to prevent desertification that may be limited in scope, drastic solutions will remain beyond reach unless consideration is given to other factors."

...something like this.

you mean for '砂漠化'? Well, 'drought' and 'desertification' are two different ecological processes. Drought refers to a lack of precipitation or depleted watershed for an extended period, whereas desertification refers to an erosion process that happens to the soil. Drought can cause desertification, but I would not equate the two.

When tackling the prevention of deforestation, even with limited scope,

Explanation:
You've probably already thought of a similar phrase but this is my first stab and I may think of a better way to phrase it later.
Hope it helps anyway.

Asker: I was thinking of "engaged" not "tackling". Sounds like the game of football! What do you think??
