high reflectivity Explanation: I understand the meaning to be exactly the other way around, since reflecting solar energy of the surface back into the higher atmosphere reduces the heat island effect considerably. "In the daytime, the effective change of the heatload remains relatively low (due to high reflectivity etc.)." -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 38 mins (2009-06-13 07:30:35 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- with respect to the 化 you might also translate as "improved reflectivity" Reference: http://lists.biggreen.org/pipermail/biggreen/2001-August/002... |

increasingly enhanced reflectivity Explanation: Or, trend toward higher reflectivity 日照時間中に対象物の「反射性が高まる(という性向)」のことでしょう(I suppose that it refers to the tendency of the object to increase its reflectivity during the day, or while the sun is shining.)。参考として、日本語の「~化」というのは、英語でいえば”-ization(名詞)”とか”-ize(動詞)”でしょうが、一筋縄ではいかず英訳しにくいものの一つです。 The English translation of the phrase above may be as follows: The effect of thermal load change (e.g., increasingly enhanced reflectivity) during daylight hours relatively lessens, … |

Increasing Reflectivity -or- Increase in Reflectivity Explanation: The 高反射 indicates high reflectivity. The 化 means -ification. So High Reflectivity-ification would be the direct translation. However since such a word does not exist the terms "Increasing Reflectivity" or "An Increase in Reflectivity" would suffice. |

change to high/strong reflexion Explanation: change/convert the heatload to strong reflexion -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 18 hrs (2009-06-14 01:47:26 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- sorry: not reflexion but reflection; that was the german version; mmh |
