Trained in disaster prevention Explanation: I’m having a bit of a hard time imagining exactly how this is to appear in the target document. My guess here is that an individual staff member name appears followed by 防災士 . If this is the case, and if it is safe to assume from the context that this individual has some sort of qualifications or training in disaster prevention, perhaps you could skirt around the 士 part by saying something like ‘Trained in disaster prevention’ or ‘Certified in disaster prevention’. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2009-11-28 17:39:16 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Ah, I see that you indicated that this a certification type in your first sentence. Sorry about that - I hadn't had my first cup of coffee yet. Could you just say something like 'Certified in disaster prevention' or 'Disaster prevention-certified'? |

Disaster prevention specialist/expert/professional Explanation: 消防士 = a firefighter or a fire-fighting specialist/expert/professional By extension, I thought that disaster "prevention specialist", "disaster prevention expert", or "disaster prevention professional" could work since the person is someone who specializes in preventing disasters. Also, you will find references to "disaster prevention expert" online from anything for preventing building disasters, fires, etc. to preventing financial disasters. Please see below: James Lee Witt, the nation's leading expert in disaster prevention and building safety, will release the results of a survey conducted by the International Code Council identifying the nation's top building safety concerns. Mr. Witt will also be announcing the start of a foundation dedicated to improving building safety throughout the world. Witt is the Chief Executive Officer of the International Code Council, the organization that develops the most widely adopted building safety and fire prevention codes in the nation.
