lightless/dark/sombre paths Explanation: Hi Maite, this is just a suggestion and it is only about Italian so, please, forgive my English! As you see in the links, in Dante and throughout the classical tradition we have 'atro' used in many contexts, including as a synonymous of 'Stygian'. (i.e. the Latin tradition of the meaning is clearly shown in the Metamorohoses by Apuleius). The word always has a negative connotation linked to darkness, hell, cruelty, threat and most of all, 'black' both in a literal and in figurative sense. I wonder if, in this case, it could be an euphemism (or not) to express the heterosexual practice of what Forster calls "the unspeakable vice of Greeks" in his novel “Maurice”. Ciao! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 19 ore (2011-08-26 17:25:17 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Scusa l'abbaglio sulla lingua. I reiferimenti li mantengo come suggerimento per l'interpretazione. Example sentence(s):
