Lumaquelas y coquinas: Las lumaquelas (del italiano lumachella o caracolillo) y coquinas (conchas), son rocas calcáreas sedimentarias formadas por conchas de moluscos, tales como gasterópodos y lamelibranquios, y otros organismos. Se distinguen también las denominadas calizas nummulíticas; las cuales están formadas a base de fósiles nummulítodos. Los caparazones de estos foraminíferos han dado lugar a grandes depósitos de de estas rocas, muy abundantes en el Terciario.

Muchas gracias a todos. Al final me he quedado con coquina aunque también he encontrado "caliza de concha" y el equivalente "calcare conchiglifero".

Beach rock derived from Quaternary coastal plain sediments. Beach rock is the host material of most beach fossils. The matrix consists of fine to coarse sand, even conglomerate. Sand is cemented with calcite or limonite. (Shell-bearing limonite samples may be recent "rusted iron."). This cobble of well cemented beach rock contains jingle shells, oysters, gastropods, shark vertebrae, and spruce pine cones.
