Italian term or phrase: al guado
Un branco di cavalli carmarguensi dal manto bianco al guado.

guado = woad? so blue-tinged?

If so, how does this translate?

This is a caption and needless to say, I don't have the picture!

Notes to answerer
Asker: Ah, the penny has finally dropped! I can now see that my initial interpretation of guado was entirely off the mark and you've but me on the right track. Although wading is the correct translation of guado, I decided to omit it altogether and translate as: .... white Carmargue horses in the wetlands Thanks!
