Italian term or phrase: fare a sputi
This is a phone call between two businessmen. They state that a woman they know when to dinner with a man they know, then one comments "spero che non abbiano fatto a sputi!".

They both laugh and move on in the conversation. I don't believe I've heard this expression, and due to the lack of context I'm not sure what this might mean. Thanks for any suggestions!

Spit at eachother/tear eachother to pieces
Explanation:
I would say it means something like "let's hope they don't end up spitting at eachother/tearing eachother to pieces.
Without further context about their relationship it's hard to say.
