Hi all -

I am translating a legal deposition where the witness is in the middle of answering a question posed by an attorney when he lapses into conversational Italian and says:
"...quando potrei fare altro e non lo posso fare per strani motivi, questo devo rispondere, che poi adesso devo prendere un po' di pancia, scusatemi se mi permetto."

I am not familiar with this phrase. Is he asking to excuse himself?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
