Italian term or phrase: allargare le alette
This is from a set of notes provided by the manufacturer for correcting defects on a backrest (e.g. removing burrs, rings and various production marks). I'm afraid this is all the context I have.

Eliminare bava
***Allargare le alette***

I've found various words for 'alette', including 'fins', and I'm wondering if this is the one that fits the context best. Any confirmation/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks Cedric, but I've already used tabs to translate 'denti', so I need something else here. Any other useful words come to mind?
