Italian term or phrase: Levigatura
I am using shine for "brillantezza" and lustre in another part for "lucentezza". Would "glossiness" or "gloss work here? Or would something more specific be better? I find the literal use of polish here would be a bit odd.

I think of 'levigare' as more to do with the feel of something than the appearance. So, smooth hair, rather than glossy hair (glossy is really more 'shiny').

Explanation:
Normally we would use "smoothing" in other contexts, but I believe here, in contrast to "curling", we could use "straightening"
