Italian term or phrase: strada a mezza costa
I'm translating a description of old military roads in the Alps, including a brief definition of the various types. One of these types is listed as "strada a mezza costa", defined as "con la sezione stradale in parte in rialzo e in parte in trincea aperta". (The other types are "strada a livello" "strada in rialzo" and "strada in trincea"). I could translate this literally as "hillside" or "mountainside" road, but I'm wondering if there's a specific and more technical term. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
