Italian term or phrase: pedana
This is from instructions for replacing the O2 sensor cable on a motorcycle. I've never owned a motorcycle, so I don't know what "pedana" is, although I'm guessing it's a footrest.

The only contest is the instruction itself:

Smontare il profilo tunnel centrale pedana lato destro e scollegare il cavo di alimentazione del sensore ( fig. 1 );

It would seem that "profilo tunnel centrale pedana lato destro" is one expression, with "profilo" being the main noun and "pedana" as a modifier (the central tunnel moulding for/near the pedana on the right side)...unless someone knows otherwise.

Help!

Thanks.

Explanation:
An Italian friend of mine is building a small motorbike from scracth (!). Last week he told me precisely that he had just "saldato le pedane", i.e. welded the foopegs.

"Pedane" is a synonim for "pedalini". Motorbikes have two for the rider and two for the passenger, if any. They look like this:

I am very familiar with bikes and bikers, so I can tell you this for sure :-).

Just wait aminute, I have a doubt: "profilo tunnel centrale pedana lato destro" makes me think of this:

http://www.ebay.it/itm/CARENA-PEDANA-TUNNEL-CENTRALE-for-SUZ...

However, this is not used in motorbikes but in the so called "scooteroni" or "scooter", which are not motorbikes speaking strictly. Is your text about a motorbike or a "scooter/scooterone"?

PS: if your "pedane" look like those in my ebay link, they are simply called footrests, as you inferred.

So, you can call it "footpeg" if it looks like a pin or "footrest" if it looks like a plate or you don't know how it looks like :-)
