I had a Saab 900 for quite some time and I always referred to this as a "flat trunk". In fact, the seats went completely flat on this car and I put a mattress down flat. This is a typical American way of saying this. Perhaps it makes no sense it doesn't really describe it in a technical sense, but it is common terminology. |

I do not believe that "a filo" needs a literal translation in this case. "Soglia" the threshold, entrance or in English we would say opening to the trunk (if a car) or hatch (boat or plane).
