Art/Literary - Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting / Review on artist\'s work
Italian term or phrase: scanditi e ripetuti
This artist's work is being described as more representative nowadays, in comparison to her earlier tendency to create more expressionistic paintings.

"...stimolo assoluto soprattutto nei primi tempi, quando l’autrice vuole sottolinearlo attraverso lo scavo dei tratti, scanditi e ripetuti, insistiti, posti in dialogo con cromie decise e una gestualità chiaramente espressionista.

I have put "....This is very exciting, especially as, in her early days, this artist sought to place emphasis through the contours of features, so prominent and reconstructed" ?????

I have put these two adjectives together in the same question because they seem to be connected somehow.
By the way, almost all her work is of faces, dancers bodies and , generally, people's expressions.

clearly articulated and repeated
Explanation:
I don't know what they mean by "repeated" - once again, there's no need to conceal the artist's name - but I imagine it means from one painting to another rather than in the same picture.

You haven't got "soprattutto nei primi tempi" quite right - it means "particularly in the early days/during her early period".

Also, I'm not clear what the "lo" refers to - is it the "stimolo", or part of the text that you've omitted from the beginning? Either way, you have to say what she's emphasizing.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Artist in discussion box.

Asker: "in the early days" is exactly what I have put, I don't understand your comment.

Asker: I used "as" in my attempt at restructuring the text because the length of the sentences does not work in English. I have pasted in discussion boxes.

Rhythmic and repeated

Explanation:
Are you sure the reference is not to pictorial (brush)strokes/lines rather than "features", the Italian can mean both and features doesn't seem to flow with scanditi and ripetuti in the given paragraph?

I'd say rhythmic, repeated strokes are quite typical of her work from what I can see. Maybe that would work for tratti scanditi e ripetuti.
Personally, I'd double check with the author of the piece.

neutral  philgoddard: I think you could be right - "tratti" is ambiguous.
