Impact stresses Explanation: The parts are being required to withstand frequent impact stresses, which is why nitro-carbonizing will make them stronger and better able to survive the impacts without fracturing. It's a pretty specialized term, but I've found a few sites that mention the impact=נגיפה equivalence (see references, below).
