Greek term or phrase: θήκες γυαλιών νάυλον
Μy question is essentially about the word νάυλον (or νάιλον), but I'm giving the whole phrase because I would like to know how you understand νάυλον here: is it rigid or flexible material?

Is νάυλον always flexible?

Stavropoulos gives "nylon" and Collins gives (oh dear!) "naylon", but I don't think I've ever heard "νάυλον" used for anything I would actually call nylon. I associate the word with plastic (polythene) sheeting, plastic as in plastic bags etc.

Perhaps they really do mean nylon here...

Thank you, Philip. I think I'm going to opt for "plastic" as a safer word to use here. "Θήκες γυαλιών νάυλον" appears in the letterhead of the company (dating from a couple of years ago), but they now seem to have given up using the word νάυλον altogether: they offer "Plastic πλαστικές θήκες".

Asker: Thanks, Philip. I'm think you're probably right about "case". At first I was wondering whether it could be something fairly flexible that could be called a "pouch". I'm still not sure about plastic/nylon (bearing in mind the variety of things that nylon is used for).
