η βιομηχανική ομάδα ... που θα αποτελέσει το παραγωγικό δόρυ του ομίλου, θεωρείται από τις μεγαλύτερες της χώρας μας.

"Spearhead" came to mind, i.e. it will lead, be at the forefront of, the group's manufacturing operations.

On the other hand, perhaps it means the group's "production prong" as opposed to research: this group of companies has two main "prongs" (please feel free to suggest a better word), manufacture and research.

How do you understand δόρυ here?

Not the second one; not 'prong'. The choice of 'δόρυ' means that they want to show the driving force of that element. "The spearhead of the group" would sound fine to me. "The productive spearhead", less impressive. Perhaps "the productive force", "the productive arm"; it's losing its force as I write, so let me stop. But you get my drift.
