Asker: Thanks. This was my assumption at first - that TE stands for two words. Now it seems likely that it's the word ΤΕΚΝΟΥ cut short.

neutral  Philip Lees: I agree with the first part, but the standard abbreviation of Τεχνικό Επιμελητήριο Ελλάδος is TEE. Could it be Ταμείον Εμπόρων, or whatever the Cypriot equivalent is? Some kind of disability or other benefit?

  -> You are right! For Cyprus it is ΕΤΕΚ (Επιστημονικό Τεχνικό Επ. Κύπρου). My turn to guess wrong :)
