αντιστοίχιση

As far as I understand it, the instructions are explaining how somebody should go about transferring or transmitting data from one electronic device to another, using a Bluetooth connection. The meaning of the phrase I asked about only seems to make sense if it's something like "establish a connection". The first (transmitting) device is also a data collection device. So what's going in is something like you uploading images from a digital camera to your computer, but using a wireless connection and not a cable. The αντιστοίχιση part is presumably the wireless equivalent of plugging in the cable.

I've queried the client about this, as it doesn't seem to be just me who's puzzled by it. I'll report back if I get anything interesting in response.

I suppose that what precedes this doesn't help, because you would have to match the device to something already described.

Maybe it's just me, but if I read the instruction "Match your meter" I wouldn't have any idea what I was supposed to do. Change the colour of my socks? I know that "match" or "match up" is the literal meaning, but I think that this luser would understand "link" more easily, so that's what I'm going with.

Perhaps Maya's "matching" is the best option then; it is definitely an accurate translation of αντιστοίχιση, and it should be clear enough for the user.

Bluetooth is mentioned in another document with reference to the same device. However, I agree that 'pairing' is probably not the best option in this specific context. (I have a feeling that αντιστοίχιση isn't, either.)

If Bluetooth is mentioned in another document, this doesn't mean that "pairing" is the best option here. Plus, "pairing", when talking about Bluetooth devices, is commonly translated as "ζευγάρωμα" or "σύζευξη", not as "αντιστοίχιση".

Given the different views on this, it's odd that αντιστοίχιση was used here in a set of instructions aimed at ordinary citizens, i.e. without specialised technical knowledge. I think that strictly speaking Dimitris is probably right, because there is a mention of Bluetooth in another asociated document, but I'm nervous about using such a technical term as 'pairing' in this context. (I didn't know it, and I have an IT background.)

It could be just "match your device", "select your device" if there's a menu asking which device you are uploading data from.
