"Geospace – the region of space that stretches from the Earth’s upper atmosphere to the outermost reaches of the Earth’s magnetic field — has a large impact on human technologies. Due to their potential effects on human technological systems, space weather phenomena within the radiation belts and the ionosphere/thermosphere are of particular concern. Space weather phenomena within the former region energize particles that can endanger both astronauts and electronic systems, while space weather phenomena within the ionosphere/thermosphere disrupt radio communication, aircraft navigation, and spacecraft operations, and can also have a deleterious impact on power line transmission and oil pipeline operations on the ground. All of these effects become more pronounced during severe geomagnetic storms, which energize radiation belt particles, create complex changes in the upper atmosphere densities, and produce strong ionospheric density gradients that spawn ionospheric irregularities and scintillations".

Απ' ό,τι φαίνεται πρόκειται γι' αυτό. Παραθέτω από συνέντευξη του Ι. Δαγκλή, ερευνητή του Εθνικού Αστεροσκοπείου Αθηνών, στο "Βήμα":
«Η κυριότερη συνέπεια για τη Γη είναι ακριβώς η μεταφορά μαγνητικής ενέργειας στο εγγύς διαστημικό περιβάλλον της Γης, στο Γεωδιάστημα, όπως λέμε».

Thank you Dimitri for pointing out to me that the use of a different case to the prefix geo is only a matter of playing around and stylistics.

Explanation:
I don't know what you mean by flavour for this particular word. I would use geospace. Unless I've misunderstood you.

Nearly six years of imagery by the pioneering cameras on IMAGE revolutionized our understanding of geospace and our knowledge of its space weather," said James Burch, IMAGE principal investigator at the Southwest Research Institute, San Antonio.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi danae. the word γεωδιάστημα παρουσιάζεται ως εξής: ΓΕΩδιάστημα...ξεχωρίζοντας το πρώτο συνθετικό με διαφορετική γραματοσειρά και μέγεθος.οπότε κάνω την υπόθεση ότι είναι παραπλανητικός ο τρόπος που χρησιμοποιέιται στο κείμενό μου. σας παραθέτω τί λέει η ενότητα όπως εγώ την έχω μεταφράσει στα αγγλικά: In all the eras of human civilization, thousands of people tried to give a satisfactory answer to the question: “what is the fate of the universe?” leading to the result of getting some sort of “metaphysical” answers. Answers that due to their nature could not have tangible proof for their plausibility. However, in the contemporary nowadays the particle accelerators of nuclear physics, and the distinctness with which we are able to observe via our telescopes events in the universe that are far from each other billions of light years -both in space and in time-, has given us those supplies that enable us to phrase nowadays- and quite certainly- even the details of the first moments of the genesis of the universe. Moreover, when we refer nowadays to the genesis of the universe with a Big Bang, don’t imagine an explosion like the one of a big firework! The cosmologists’ Big Bang has nothing to do with those explosions that each one of us is familiar with, either these are fireworks or hydrogen bombs. As a matter of fact, the term Big Bang is perhaps deceiving and was established in the late 40s by the British professor Fred Hoyle, who was the main figure to oppose the whole theory of the genesis of the universe. καταλάβατε από το παραπάνω ότι χρησιμοποιεί την λέξη γεωδιάστημα μεταφορικά; κι αν όχι, πώς αντιλαμβάνεστε την χρήση της διαφορετικής γραμματοσειράς στο γεω;
