German language (monolingual) [Non-PRO]
Science - Nutrition
German term or phrase: Antioxidationsmittel / Anti-Oxidationsmittel
Needed translation of an ingredient: antioxidant (for exemple: E-300) used in food industry. Are both translations (with and without hiphen) correct? Which is a difference of meaning?

Selected answer:Antioxidationsmittel
Explanation:
As Bernd already explained, the "s" serves as a connector and therefore no hyphen should be used (unfortunately, this is often done wrong).
Not to forget: It's "Antioxidation" not "Antioxidantion".

antioxidantionsmittel, or antioxidantions-mittel??
Antioxidationsmittel

Explanation:
Antioxidations-Mittel does not exist. It is either "Antioxidationsmittel" or "Antioxidans" (singular)/"Antioxidantien" (plural). In a technical context you would rather use "Antioxidans" or "Antioxidantien". Remember to capitalize ;-)
