Der Diagnosebetrieb dient zur Durchführung von besonderen Prüfungen und Messungen, bei denen der Zugang zum Prüfling auch während des Prüfbetriebs nötig ist.
Während der Prüfung ist es möglich den Diagnosebetrieb über einen gesonderten Schlüsselschalter (S1-Schließung in einem Aufbaugehäuse) am Bremsenprüfstand in der Nähe der Haube zu aktivieren. Die Gefahrenstelle muss vom Standort des Schlüsselschalters einsehbar sein. Dadurch ist die Prüfkabine entriegelt und / oder die Türkontakte im Sicherheitskreis überbrückt
