So, yes, I have a bit of a different opinion than Steffen, as I understand it.

I agree with your statement: "I know this is a list, but I think if I had done the translation and knew all of the other questions, I would be more likely to find an answer here."

It's hard to know what's adequate here - at least, unless the asker can provide some more information on the structure of the list.

Sorry, I slipped into Microsoft business-software speak. There, you have field data type Option, in addition to field type Text and many others. You'd probably say Boolean here, though (since it's yes or no, I guess).

"options-based" meant, as stated in my explanation: "you either choose one of the options given [on the questionnaire]", so yes, it meant "tick" or "check" [depending on whether you speak BrE or AmE] what you think is right in your case.

Yes I agree with you regarding 'Offene Angabe', but I'm not sure what you are trying to say with 'Nennung means option-based'.
I think Steffen may be on the right track with things to be 'ticked' - or you don't like any of the things to tick and Name your own (Nennung). Then you can enter a "String" to explain.

As always context helps. I know this is a list, but I think if I had done the translation and knew all of the other questions, I would be more likely to find an answer here.
I am pretty sure that 'Offene Angabe' means the person answering the questions, now has a chance to write down anything he wants without having to answer a specific question. The only thing I can think of for 'string' is the IT term. Any entry with several words would constitute a 'string'.

"offene Angabe" means a text of the respondent's own choosing. Nennung means option-based, String should mean that a "string of characters" is expected.

So, you either choose one of the options given under "Other" or state another reason (that is not among the list items) in a text box. Something like that.
