| Reference: Info Reference information: Translating "Wissenschaft" is often tricky. Unless you're sure that it really is restricted to the physical, natural sciences, such as physics, chemistry, etc. "academic" or "learning" "scholarship" "scholarly" etc. are safer choices. We don't refer to political science as a science, for example. In response to the student revolts breaking out at many universities, faculty members set up the alliance “Freiheit der Wissenschaft” (“Academic Freedom”).
