"Man wollte also ein „Erziehungsgespräch“ mit mir führen." -- Ein DDR Bürger möchte einen Ausreiseantrag stellen und wird statt dessen von Beamten ausgefragt.

A citizen of the GDR wants to apply for permission to leave and instead is subjected to an "Erziehungsgespräch" by the authorities -- he is questioned as to why he wants to leave, and "educated" about all the reasons why he should choose to stay.

I am translating someone's autobiography from German into English and can't for the life of me think of the term for "Erziehungsgespräch". Any help gratefully received! Many thanks .

agree  Michael Martin, MA: Not a bad idea/ Perhaps change to 'correctional' conversation/chat etc? Corrective sounds a bit odd, IMO.

agree  Paul Cohen: All of the suggestions so far are good, but this one rings particularly true for me. Indeed, there is quite a bit of irony in calling this last-ditch attempt to instill a deeper appreciation of socialist values, etc., a "corrective chat".

The piece below wasn't written by a native speaker but the choice of words would still be a good fit, IMO. Context is very similar, too.
