German to English translations [PRO] Marketing - Marketing / Market Research / marketing slogan/copywriting
German term or phrase:darauf baut Österreich
DARAUF BAUT ÖSTERREICH
FACHMESSE BAU
Die xxxx ist als Österreichs größte Messe fürs Bauen, Sanieren, Renovieren und Einrichten sowohl bei Fachbesuchern als auch bei privaten Bauherren fix verankert.
Our two-person household wasn't either. The second problem I've had with it was the preposition "on" (which is why I included "ideas"). This may sound far-fetched at first, but depending on how you phrase it, it sounds more like you're building on the premises.
Best wishes and enjoy your weekend!

Well,

I just wasn't really sold on 'Austria is building on it' - on what? Yes, sometimes discussion are useful!
Well, your version is much better, IMO, than the one with the most agreements to date - built looks to the past. Also note that sometimes, Germans use country names when they are actually referring to the people. Let me illustrate:
Fachmesse Bau
Build on Austrian ideas
Used the adjective, but something with "Austrians" may also work. And I say tagline because I think it should come after the name in English, not before. Yours can be used in front, my suggestions (including the one below) can't.
Maybe Martina should say something. I don't know who her contractee is, but if it isn't the organizer of the trade show, you may have to run the whole thing by him or her first.
Best wishes

Okay, the whole country does not create the trade fair, but it takes place in Austria, which means Austria 'grows' in the process. You dig?
The first part of your explanation was quite right and it's the only one I could agree to as an answer: "Austria both relies or banks on the trade fair for revenues, marketing value, etc."
I cannot agree to the second part: "builds/produces the trade fair"
This is not what is meant. People go to the trade show/fair to "build on" the knowledge/contacts/contracts acquired there for newbuilds/renovations/refurbishments/upgrades/retrofits.
In that sense, Austria Builds Connections is a nice idea. I am not so sure about "Building (up)" - when was the last time you heard someone say "Building (up) the United States / Kingdom"? Did I miss out on some social experiment or WWIII?
Additionally, I don't think you should "spice up" the German here. It makes the whole tagline sound pretty impersonal.
Could the following sentences be of use? "Build on ideas where you heard (about) them first. In Austria."

Austria both relies or banks on the trade fair for revenues, marketing value, etc. and builds/produces the trade fair. It's a nice one in German. We need to play bit more to find the English rendition, and possibly 'localize' it: Building up Austria Austria Builds Connections Building Austrian Power/Strength....
